Eleutian looking to hire 120 more teachers

Eleutian Technology, Inc. has announced the opening of its Rapid City Teacher Training Center on Cambell Street. The company is the world's largest network of U.S. board-certified teachers who teach English as a second language online to students around the globe.

Eleutian held a joint press conference with the Rapid City Economic Development Partnership on Thursday to discuss recruiting teachers for the new center. The Partnership's president says this is exciting for Rapid City because the field of teaching is a growing segment in the economy.

Benjamin Snow says, "It's a particular business model that's geographically independent, which means they can locate anywhere they want because most of their teaching is done via the internet through high bandwidth connections, and they look at what Rapid City and what South Dakota has to offer in terms of its workforce, in terms of their Midwestern dialect. It just matches very well with a lot of their Asian clients and those folks who are looking to learn English."

Eleutian plans to hire and train 120 teachers in Rapid City and the surrounding area over the next several months. Interested teachers can apply online by going to eleutian.com and selecting the 'become a teacher' link.
