Eleutian - The Bridge to Globalization

Learning English: Measuring Student Progress

Our goal is to deliver effective teaching to all of our students.  To ensure that we are doing this, our research team has developed an oral assessment which is administered to each student before and after participating in one of Eleutian's courses.  The main goal of this verbal speaking assessment is to determine the precise English conversation level at which a student is functioning.

Research proves that the best method to assess speaking ablility is via one-to-one conversation.  Through the use of video conference technology, we are able to create such a setting and establish each student's unique level of conversational fluency.  Tests are conducted by trained and experienced teaching staff members who are native English speakers.

The assessment focuses on language conversation skills and is scored according to a 4-pronged rubric including:

  • Pronunciation
  • Fluency
  • Listening
  • Vocabulary
The results paint a detailed picture of a person's English language proficiency and help us to identify areas of strength and weakness.
