SpeakENG is rich with multimedia presentations. During the ‘Watch’ portion of a lesson, students watch video clips of everyday conversations in English. For younger learners there are also animated songs. The videos set the context for the learning objectives which follow.

Following the video clip, students then ‘Learn’ concepts in context to what they just watched. The SpeakENG skills menu consists of the following 5 concepts: Listening, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and communication. While these are primarily receptive activities (tutorials, etc.), the students are encouraged to immediately start using what they are being taught. For example, they can pick up the mic and practice speaking, as well as get explanations, translations, and tutorials for concepts presented.

Each 'Learn' activity has its respective 'Practice' activity. These are designed to let learners show their understanding of what they've just been taught. Practice gives immediate feedback to students' answers, assisting students to self correct and find the correct answers. 'Practice' activities are varied to appeal to different learner types and levels.

When learning is fun, students will naturally just 'go for it!' This go-for-it attitude is what we aim for with our 'Play' and 'Perform' activities. Learners can play games like concentration, bingo, even sing karaoke into an on-screen jukebox. In addition, each lesson has a quiz and each theme has a test. The Role Play function lets each student pick one of the actors’ role from the video, record their voice for each line in that role, and then play back the video and hear themselves in the conversation.

Students will be paired up with native English speaking teachers via video conference. This will enable learners not only to hear, but also see the teacher they are talking with, enabling the student to learn the ever-important facial expressions and communicative gestures that are such a vital part of effective communication.
