Casper College, Eleutian team up for teacher training program

The Casper College Center for Training and Development and Eleutian Technology have teamed up to provide free training for 210 jobs in the Casper area, thanks to a Pre-Hire Economic Development Grant through the Department of Workforce Services Workforce Development Training Fund.

The primary goal of the training program is to successfully prepare trainees for immediate employment with Eleutian Technology, LLC to teach English to non-English speaking persons in Korea and other parts of Asia.

Those who successfully complete the training at Casper College will receive a certificate of training completion and an opportunity to be hired either part or full time with Eleutian Technology. In addition, successful completion of the training program is worth two credits of teacher recertification in the state of Wyoming.

Trainees may be retired or certified K-12 teachers, retired or current college instructors, both full-time and adjunct, native English speakers and residents of Wyoming.

Trainees will learn about computer-assisted learning and interactive video conferencing, and receive intensive training on the Eleutian Technology Web site, SpeakENG course software, education specific cross-cultural communication skills, English as a second language teacher training strategies and more.

Eleutian Technology will pay new hires a $200 signing bonus and a starting wage of $8 to $10 per hour for non-certified teachers and $12 for certified teachers.

Since its inception in 2006, Eleutian Technology has hired more than 300 teachers and support staff in the Big Horn Basin and Sheridan. Currently Eleutian Technology has fully staffed offices in Ten Sleep, Worland, Basin, Powell, Cody, Lovell, Dubois and Sheridan. Plans to open an operation in the McMurry Business Park in Casper are currently underway.

Group and private English teaching sessions are broadcast via high-speed fiber optic networks and state-of-the-art video technology from local call centers. The company’s customers include public education systems and schools throughout the world as well as globally focused corporations and organizations.
